Title: Poet’s Quest for Peace
Date: June 18, 2016
Location: London, England
Description: Organised by the LJS Education Committee, this ambitious event brings together core values of interfaith work, social action, culture and education. How better to spend Shabbat than in pursuit of a better grasp of the complexities of the shared quest for peace?
Internationally renowned poets including Choman Hardi from Kurdistan, Palestinian-American Fady Joudah, exiled Iranian Ziba Karbassi and Hungarian-born George Szirtes – specially chosen for their cultural diversity and for the relevance, appeal and quality of their poems – will move, disturb and inspire. Discussions on “what contribution can poetry make to peace processes?” and “peace is not a comfort zone, is poetry?” will be invigorating and provocative.
