Title: Books on Bloor 2015 Book Ride
Date: May 30, 2015
Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Description: The Reading Line is a book ride that meshes our love of books, bikes, and food to raise awareness of routes in need of infrastructure improvements. Authors present their city-changing ideas to a larger audience that might not otherwise have exposure to them. We select books by a range of authors – including kids’ books – to promote literacy in the city. By bringing together a critical mass of diverse cyclists (including families), we show politicians that Torontonians want to get out and ride but are held back by a lack of cycling infrastructure and connected, safe routes. Over 70% of Torontonians want to cycle but don’t because they don’t feel safe. Local businesses benefit from us highlighting their goods and services and by providing them with shoppers on two wheels.
