Title: Poetry In Voice / Les voix de la poesie National Finals
Start Date: April 19, 2017
End Date: April 20, 2017
Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Description: Poetry In Voice/Les voix de la poésie is a charitable organization that encourages Canadian students to fall in love with poetry through reading, writing, and recitation. The program was founded in 2010 by Scott Griffin, Chairman and founder of The Griffin Trust For Excellence In Poetry.
The National Finals celebrates high school students from across Canada reciting poetry chosen from an anthology of over 500 poems. The event takes place over two days each spring in a different Canadian city.
Canadian poets, actors, and other cultural figures judge the recitations and award nearly $25,000 in prizes and name a National Champion in each of three language streams: English, French and Bilingual.
This year’s competitions take place at the SFU’s Fei & Milton Wong Experimental Theatre in Vancouver, BC.
